Adrian Kyle Benjamin, Child Pornography, California 2018

A San Mateo man has been sentenced to over 11 years in federal prison for receiving and exploiting child pornography. Adrian Kyle Benjamin, 25, was handed a 135-month prison sentence for his conviction of receiving child pornography in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(2) and (b)(1).

On July 30, 2018, Benjamin began communicating with a 14-year-old girl in Washington state. He enticed her to engage in sexually explicit conduct and send him visual depictions of her engaging in the conduct. Benjamin admitted to receiving approximately seven images and three videos from this minor depicting sexually explicit conduct.

Benjamin also admitted to exploiting three other minor victims, enticing them to engage in sexually explicit conduct and sending him visual depictions of it. He communicated with a 13-year-old girl in Australia, a 15-year-old girl in Texas, and a 17-year-old girl in Canada. Benjamin convinced the girls to send him videos and images of themselves engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The 135-month prison sentence for Benjamin was handed down today following his guilty plea to the receipt of child pornography. United States District Judge Susan Illston also sentenced the defendant to a ten-year period of supervised release following his release from prison.

Benjamin’s guilty plea and sentence are the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Benjamin’s prison sentence is a significant blow to those who exploit and harm children. This case serves as a reminder that law enforcement agencies are committed to protecting children from online predators and bringing perpetrators to justice.
