Rapid City Man Sentenced for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender
A Rapid City man has been held accountable for breaking the law by failing to register as a sex offender. According to court documents, Albert Charles Kills Right, Jr., was convicted of violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
On October 23, 2020, U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken sentenced Kills Right, Jr., to 33 months in federal prison. In addition to his prison time, the 46-year-old was also ordered to serve 5 years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The conviction stemmed from Kills Right, Jr.’s failure to register and update his registration between May 30, 2018, and November 11, 2019. The U.S. Marshals Service conducted the investigation into the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman was responsible for prosecuting the case. Kills Right, Jr. was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following his sentencing.
