Alejandro Jose Rojas, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Nevada 2017

Alejandro Jose Rojas, 38, has been sent down for his part in a methamphetamine trafficking ring, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Christopher Chiou for the District of Nevada.

On April 14, 2017, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers pulled over a vehicle Rojas was riding in. During the stop, they discovered a firearm sticking out from under the front passenger seat. In Rojas’ pocket, they found approximately 29 grams of methamphetamine, and under the passenger seat, they recovered three firearms. In the vehicle’s trunk, they found 1.4 kilograms of methamphetamine. After a search warrant was executed on a hotel room co-defendant Jonathan Ruiz had rented, officers found an additional firearm and approximately 8.6 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Rojas pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, a Schedule II Controlled Substance. U.S. District Judge Andrew P. Gordon sentenced Rojas to 10 years in prison, along with five years of supervised release.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
