BUFFALO, N.Y. – A Mexican national has been brought to justice for re-entering the United States after being previously removed.
Alejandro Mendez Flores, 38, a citizen of Mexico, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to illegal re-entry of a removed alien.
Flores was sentenced to time served and will be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.
The charges stem from an incident where Flores was found in Erie County in the Western District of New York on April 30, 2025.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to combat the growing issue of illegal immigration and protect communities from violent crime.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Colleen M. McCarthy handled the case, stating that Mendez Flores is an alien without any legal status in the United States.
A native and citizen of Mexico, Flores was physically removed in July 2019 after he had illegally entered the United States.
Customs and Border Protection, under the direction of Director of Field Operations Rose Brophy, led the investigation that resulted in Flores’s conviction.
