On August 12, 2010, Alejandro Mendoza, a 35-year-old resident of Houston, Texas, stood before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, West District (TXWD Federal District), facing charges related to a violent crime.

According to the indictment, Alejandro Mendoza was accused of violating 18 U.S.C. § 924(c), which pertains to the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence. He was also charged under 18 U.S.C. § 1959(a), which deals with the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence resulting in serious bodily injury.

The indictment revealed that Mendoza, along with an accomplice, allegedly engaged in a violent altercation at a local restaurant on April 30, 2009. During the altercation, Mendoza allegedly used a firearm, striking one of his victims in the head. The incident left the victim with serious bodily injuries.

The case went to trial, and the prosecution presented several witnesses, including a ballistic expert who testified about the firearm used in the altercation. After deliberating, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on both counts.
