A brutal carjacking and beating left a victim for dead in New City, New York. The FBI and Clarkstown Police Department have arrested two suspects, Dwayne Hicks and Tnaiya Williams, in connection with the crime.
According to authorities, Hicks, 27, of Spring Valley, New York, lured the victim to a residence in New City on February 28, 2021. Once the victim arrived, Hicks and multiple other assailants, including Williams, 26, of New City, New York, viciously attacked the victim. The victim was forced to strip naked, had his personal belongings stolen, including the keys to his car, and was then beaten with a baseball bat, belts, and their hands. The victim was also repeatedly slashed and stabbed with a large knife.
The victim ultimately fled, leaving him naked and covered in blood in a pile of snow. Some of the assailants drove off in the victim’s car.
Hicks and Williams are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit carjacking, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, and one count of carjacking, which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss praised the investigative work of the FBI and its Westchester County Safe Streets Task Force, the Clarkstown Police Department, and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office. The case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
The defendants will be presented before United States Magistrate Judge Andrew E. Krause in White Plains federal court.
The FBI and Clarkstown Police Department worked together to apprehend the suspects, and their swift action prevented further harm to the community. The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office will now push forward with an aggressive prosecution of the crimes, bringing closure to the victim.
Hicks and Williams are being held without bail pending their appearance in federal court. The case is ongoing, and further details will be released as more information becomes available.
