Local Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Firearms Charge
A 35-year-old man from New Martinsville, West Virginia, was sentenced to 30 months of incarceration for a firearms charge.
Alexander Cleveland King, also known as “Alex,” pleaded guilty in March 2021 to one count of “Unlawful Possession of Firearm” in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.
King, a person prohibited from having a firearm because of a conviction, admitted to having a .45 caliber pistol in January 2021 in Wetzel County.
The case was investigated by the Marshall County Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn M. Adkins prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
The sentencing was held in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, with U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presiding.
King’s sentence of 30 months of incarceration reflects the seriousness of his crime and the need to hold individuals accountable for violating federal law.
