Alexander James Koby, Receiving Child Sexual Abuse Material, Florida 2024

Jacksonville, Florida – In a shocking case of online exploitation, convicted sex offender Alexander James Koby (39, Jacksonville) has been indicted by a federal grand jury for knowingly receiving child sexual abuse material over the internet.

According to the indictment, Koby, a convicted child sex offender, has been charged with committing a federal crime of knowingly receiving child sexual abuse material. As a convicted sex offender, Koby has a history of child sex abuse material possession, having been convicted of a federal charge in 2014.

Under federal law, Koby faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years, up to 40 years, in federal prison, and a potential lifetime term of supervised release if convicted.

Koby is set to make his initial appearance in court on September 10, 2024, before United States Magistrate Judge Samuel J. Horovitz at the United States Courthouse in Jacksonville.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown.
