Baltimore, Maryland – A Despicable Crime Repeats

A previously convicted child sex abuser has been sentenced for illegally reentering the United States. Alfredo Carreon-Lopez, 39, of Rosedale, Maryland, was handed a 20-month and 20-day prison term by U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar.

Carreon-Lopez was found to have entered the country on an unknown date at an unknown location. He later pled guilty to sexually abusing a minor in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City on August 25, 2021. The evidence presented during sentencing showed that he was convicted of sexually abusing a 6-year-old child.

Carreon-Lopez was removed from the U.S. and deported to Mexico on October 5, 2021. However, he was later found in Baltimore City on September 15, 2023, without permission to reenter the country.

U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes praised ICE-ERO for their work in the investigation. Hayes also thanked Assistant U.S. Attorney Reema Sood who prosecuted the federal case.

Carreon-Lopez’s history of child sex abuse has left the community shaken. His actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the law and the safety of its citizens. We are relieved that he has been held accountable for his crimes.

The Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office is committed to protecting the community from such despicable crimes. For more information about the office’s priorities and resources available to help the community, please visit justice.gov/usao-md and justice.gov/usao-md/community-outreach.
