Allen and Evans Sentenced in Missouri Drug Conspiracy Ring

ST. LOUIS, MO – In a gritty courtroom battle against the city’s drug underworld, Gary James Evans Jr., 24, and Lamont Kenneth Allen, 26, faced United States District Judge Catherine Perry for their roles in a sprawling drug conspiracy ring. On Tuesday, both received stiff sentences, with Evans Jr. being sentenced to 102 months in prison and Allen to 24 months, marking the culmination of a lengthy investigation.

The duo’s sentence follows earlier convictions this year for numerous associates, including Timothy Harris, who was handed a 240-month sentence, and Stephen Griffin Sr., who received 114 months. Other members faced lengthy sentences as well, with Shawn Duane Hall receiving 151 months, Jimmie Lee Williams 106 months, Earl Capri West 37 months, and Stephen Griffin Jr. 60 months.

Court documents reveal a conspiracy that spanned over two years, involving the distribution of more than a kilogram of heroin and the possession of numerous firearms. The ring also generated significant proceeds, as evidenced by their drug-related activities. An unsettling turn came during court-authorized wiretaps when members of the organization were found to suspect some customers were undercover agents. Attempts to run license plate numbers against law enforcement databases highlighted their paranoia.

Further chilling developments included intercepted calls that revealed plans to take lethal action against a customer over a drug debt. Law enforcement’s timely intervention thwarted these deadly intentions, preventing what could have been a tragedy in the city.

The case was jointly investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Kirkwood Police Department as part of an initiative to combat opioid abuse. Assistant United States Attorney Tiffany Becker represented the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the prosecution.

This sentencing marks another victory in the ongoing fight against organized crime and drug trafficking in St. Louis, demonstrating law enforcement’s commitment to keeping the streets safe from such criminal elements.
