Allen Marston, Gun and Heroin Smuggling, Washington 2012

Allen Marston, a 35-year-old resident of Kelso, Washington, was sentenced to seven years in prison after being caught with four firearms and over 41 grams of heroin, destined for distribution. U.S. Attorney Jenny A. Durkan announced the sentencing following a dramatic arrest by Cowlitz Wahkiakum Narcotics Task Force (CWNTF) officers.

Marston’s history with law enforcement includes prior convictions for drug distribution, domestic violence assault, and illegal weapons possession. His latest offense, however, topped his previous transgressions. On May 16, 2012, Marston was stopped by police as he exited a motel room in Kelso where they discovered four firearms, including stolen property, along with the drugs and associated paraphernalia.

U.S. District Judge Robert J. Bryan also ordered three years of supervised release following his prison term. Prosecutors argued for a significant sentence, emphasizing Marston’s drug problem as no excuse for his dangerous criminal conduct. They pointed to his simultaneous possession of firearms while trafficking in heroin as a serious concern for public safety.

During the investigation, the ATF played a crucial role alongside the CWNTF. Assistant United States Attorney Gregory A. Gruber prosecuted the case, which underscored the severe consequences of drug and weapons offenses in Washington state.

This sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illegal arms and narcotics trade, and the unwavering efforts of law enforcement to dismantle such criminal operations.
