Ambrose Williams, Conspiracy to Distribute Heroin, Louisiana 2014

New Orleans’s streets were hit with a significant blow as two key figures in the notorious Operation “Wild Wild East” faced justice. Ambrose Williams, 44, and Antoinette Kelly, 32, both of New Orleans, were sentenced today after having previously pled guilty to charges relating to their conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute heroin.

Williams was hit with a severe penalty, receiving a 120-month sentence for his role in the distribution of over one kilogram of the deadly substance. The sentence is followed by five years of supervised release. Kelly, on the other hand, faced 15 months for her part in distributing a quantity of heroin, with three years of supervised release to follow.

The duo were among twelve defendants charged in a sprawling 23-count indictment that was announced on July 25, 2014. The investigation into this heroin-trafficking organization operating in New Orleans East revealed its deadly reach, with the group responsible for distributing at least 15 kilograms of heroin across the city.

As a result of the arrests, federal agents seized approximately $1,200,000 worth of assets, including vehicles, currency, jewelry, and real property, which were believed to be proceeds from the sale of heroin. This substantial seizure underscores the gravity of the operation that was dismantled.

Praising the efforts of law enforcement, U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite highlighted the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) pivotal role in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Brandon S. Long was in charge of the prosecution, ensuring a thorough and effective legal pursuit of justice.
