Tommie Joseph Beason, Possession of Child Pornography, Louisiana 2014

LAFAYETTE, La. – A 37-year-old Franklin man, Tommie Joseph Beason, was sentenced to 78 months in prison for possession of child pornography, the United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced.

Beason’s sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge Richard T. Haik, also includes five years of supervised release. The case began on June 3, 2014, when law enforcement agents discovered Beason downloading illegal content and subsequently found a hard drive containing 230 images and 88 videos of hardcore child pornography at his residence.

The material included prepubescent children and sadistic content, the severity of which underscores the gravity of the offense. Homeland Security Investigations and the Louisiana State Police were instrumental in the investigation that led to Beason’s guilty plea on October 27, 2014.

Assistant U.S. Attorney John Luke Walker prosecuted the case, which is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative dedicated to combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. For more information on Project Safe Childhood, visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
