Defendant Damages Government Vehicle in Oregon
PORTLAND, Ore.—A Guatemalan national has been sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to damaging a government vehicle in Oregon.
Alvaro Carrillo, 33, was driving a car when he was pulled over by federal border patrol agents and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on November 11, 2025. Carrillo fled the scene, striking the border patrol agents’ vehicle several times during a pursuit that ended with him losing control of his car and colliding with a concrete barrier.
Carrillo was charged with aggravated assault and depredation of government property after a federal grand jury in Portland returned a two-count indictment on December 9, 2025.
According to court documents, Carrillo intentionally struck the government vehicle, causing significant damage. The total cost of the damage was $1,409.27.
Carrillo, who was unlawfully residing in the United States, was sentenced to time served after serving nearly five months in custody. He was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,409.27.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon prosecuted the case.
Alvaro Carrillo’s actions put the lives of border patrol agents in danger, and his reckless behavior has consequences. His sentence serves as a reminder that damaging government property will not be tolerated.
