Gun Running Ring Busted in West Virginia
A high-stakes gun running operation has been brought to a halt in West Virginia after a federal grand jury indicted three individuals on firearms conspiracy charges.
The indictment, returned on March 6, 2018, alleges that Amanze Antoine, a 37-year-old man from Mt. Vernon, New York, Margaret Parker, a 33-year-old woman from Dellslow, West Virginia, and Tommy Calhoun, a resident of Morgantown, West Virginia, conspired to violate federal firearms laws.
According to the indictment, the trio engaged in a scheme that involved making false statements to purchase firearms, trading firearms for controlled substances, and transporting and selling the firearms in New York.
The alleged crime occurred in Morgantown, Monongalia County, and elsewhere from May 2017 to June 2017.
The defendants are charged with making false statements to purchase firearms, trading firearms for controlled substances, and transporting and selling the firearms in New York. Each defendant faces up to five years incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated.
An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
