A Meriden woman has been sentenced to over 7 years in federal prison for distributing child exploitation materials.
Amber Foley, 33, was sentenced to 90 months of imprisonment, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for distributing sexually explicit images of a four-year-old girl.
According to court documents and statements made in court, law enforcement began investigating Foley in October 2017 after she sent a sexually explicit photo of a four-year-old girl to a man with whom she was chatting on MeetMe, a mobile dating application.
The investigation revealed that she had previously sent sexually explicit images of both the minor victim and a two-year-old boy to other men on MeetMe.
Foley also initiated conversations about sexual activity involving the minor victim and asked the men to describe in explicit detail the sexual acts they would perform on the minor victim.
Investigators did not uncover any evidence that Foley and the minor victim met the men with whom Foley chatted.
Foley was arrested on January 18, 2018. On May 11, 2021, she pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography.
This matter was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Meriden and Hartford Police Departments, with the assistance of the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nancy V. Gifford and Maria del Pilar Gonzalez.
