A disturbing trend of methamphetamine distribution continues to plague our communities, as evidenced by a recent guilty plea in Harrison County, West Virginia.
Amber Ramos, 32, also known as ‘Amber Finch,’ pleaded guilty today to one count of ‘Distribution of Methamphetamine’ in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.
According to court records, Ramos admitted to selling methamphetamine in July 2018 in Harrison County. The crime carries a maximum sentence of 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000.
The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant, under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew R. Cogar is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives investigated the case.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the proceedings.
Ramos is currently facing the possibility of a 20-year prison sentence and a $1,000,000 fine, a stark reminder of the severe consequences of engaging in methamphetamine distribution.
As a community, we must remain vigilant in our efforts to combat this deadly scourge, and bring those responsible to justice.
