William C. Jones, Child Pornography Possession, Georgia 2016

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: William C. Jones, a resident of Americus, Georgia, has been sentenced to 120 months imprisonment for possession of child pornography, according to United States Attorney G.F. Peterman, III for the Middle District of Georgia.

The sentence was handed down by Judge Clay D. Land in Columbus, Georgia on December 8, 2016. Jones pleaded guilty to Count One of the indictment on August 2, 2016.

Jones’ criminal history includes a prior conviction for possession of child pornography, from which he was released just five months before his arrest at Columbus Technical College in April 24, 2014. During an investigation by campus staff, inappropriate photos of young boys were discovered on Jones’ computer. He was caught red-handed, attempting to access further explicit content when he realized he was being watched.

Upon a thorough search warrant executed on external hard drives and DVDs belonging to Jones, law enforcement uncovered a chilling collection of 1,510 digital photographs depicting young males between the ages of 8 to 18, many involving nudity and sex. His previous release in January 2014 did not deter him from his predatory behavior.

The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Secret Service were instrumental in investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Crawford Seals prosecuted the matter on behalf of the Government. For further inquiries, contact Public Information Officer Pamela Lightsey at (478) 621-2603.

This is a stark reminder of the relentless effort law enforcement makes to protect our children from predators like Jones. The community can be assured that justice has been served in this case.
