Former Valdosta resident and Hialeah dweller, Otto G. Pena, 46, has been locked away for child pornography possession. Sentenced by the Honorable Hugh Lawson on July 29, 2013, Pena was handed a tough punishment of 120 months in federal prison, followed by twenty-five years of supervised release.
The court records revealed a shocking cache of over 600 images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct on computers at Pena’s residence. Evidence presented during sentencing showed a pattern of sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor.
U.S. Attorney Michael Moore emphasized the severity of the crime, stating, ‘Mr. Pena re-victimized the children in these images every time he looked at the pictures.’ The attorney general made it clear that anyone exploiting children will face the full force of federal law.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert D. McCullers prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
