Andras Daniel Lee, Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, California 2022

In a shocking case of recidivism, Andras Daniel Lee, 33, of Visalia, California, was sentenced to four years and three months in prison for failure to register as a sex offender.

The charges stem from a disturbing pattern of behavior that began in March 2017, when Lee was convicted in Tulare County of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. Shortly after his release from prison, Lee moved to Liberal, Kansas, but his troubles didn’t end there.

In March 2018, Lee moved back to California and intentionally did not register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), as was required as a result of his prior conviction. This reckless decision would have far-reaching consequences.

On February 20, 2020, Lee committed a lewd act upon a child in Tulare County while in a failure-to-register status. This egregious offense was just the beginning of a downward spiral that would ultimately land him in federal prison.

Lee’s actions didn’t stop there. On December 20, 2021, he was convicted in Tulare County of two counts of committing a lewd act upon a child. The sheer audacity of his crimes is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by predators who seek to exploit and harm innocent children.

The case was the result of an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Antonio J. Pataca prosecuted the case, bringing justice to the victims and their families. The sentence handed down to Lee serves as a stark warning to those who would commit similar crimes.
