Cleveland Man Sentenced to 41 Months for Selling Heroin and Fentanyl in West Virginia

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – Andre Cornell Diggs, a 39-year-old man from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, was sentenced to 41 months of incarceration on March 25, 2022 for selling a heroin and fentanyl mixture in Wheeling, West Virginia.

According to court documents, Diggs, also known as "Dre" and "Big Homie," pled guilty to one count of Distribution of Heroin and Fentanyl within 1000 feet of a Protected Location in December 2020. The crime took place near Riverview Towers in Wheeling in December 2019.

Diggs admitted to selling the heroin and fentanyl mixture, which is a highly addictive and often deadly combination of drugs.

The investigation into Diggs’ activities was conducted by the Ohio Valley Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative that includes the Drug Enforcement Administration, West Virginia State Police, Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wheeling Police Department. The U.S. Marshal Service, Columbus Police Department Gang Crimes Unit, the Martins Ferry Police Department, and the Bellaire Police Department also assisted in the investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shawn M. Adkins and Clayton J. Reid prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the case.

Diggs’ sentence is a result of his guilty plea and the evidence presented during the trial. The sentence demonstrates the seriousness with which the courts view heroin and fentanyl trafficking, which can have devastating consequences for communities.

The case is related to another case in which 26 individuals were charged with a drug conspiracy involving heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine in Wheeling.
