Man Sentenced to 30 Months in Prison for Unlawfully Possessing Firearm
A 33-year-old man from Shinnston, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm, according to a recent sentencing.
Andrew N. Debolt, 33, was discovered in possession of a .22 caliber rifle in July 2015, despite having prior felony convictions for ‘Sexual Abuse in the First Degree’ and ‘Domestic Violence, Third Offense’ in Harrison County, West Virginia.
As a result of his prior convictions, Debolt is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He pled guilty to the offense in August 2016.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert H. McWilliams, Jr. on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the West Virginia State Police, and the Clarksburg Police Department investigated.
U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case.
Andrew N. Debolt’s sentencing comes after a thorough investigation and prosecution. His prior convictions led to a ban on firearm possession, and his violation of this ban has resulted in a significant prison sentence.
