A 46-year-old Monroeville man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for distributing child pornography in Western Pennsylvania.

A former resident of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Andrew Patterson was sentenced to 151 months imprisonment, followed by a lifetime supervised release, on a charge of distribution of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence on Patterson, who distributed videos and images containing material depicting the sexual exploitation of minors from June 15, 2014, to June 16, 2014.

Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Lieber Smolar prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, and the Monroeville Police Department for conducting the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Patterson.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
