Mark Williams, Rape, Virginia 2014

⏱ 3 min read

A high school teacher’s twisted lust for a 17-year-old student ended in a 16-year prison sentence, finally bringing closure to the victim who took years to come forward.

Mark Williams, 59, of Virginia, started an independent study with the student at Duke Ellington School for the Arts in the spring of 2014. They met in a locked, windowless room in the basement, where Williams initiated a romantic and sexual relationship with the minor.

The abuse occurred on campus, during which Williams and the victim participated in sexual acts. Years later, on November 21, 2023, Williams was arrested after failing to appear for trial. He had left the country, but justice caught up with him.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro praised the work of the Metropolitan Police Department and her own office in the case. Interim Chief Jeffery W. Carroll of the MPD also commended the investigation.
