CHICAGO, IL – An Illinois man is facing federal charges for his alleged role in a cocaine delivery service in the Chicago area.
Anees Usmani, 41, of Chicago, and his brother, Nafees Usmani, 39, of Lincolnwood, are among 18 individuals charged in a federal investigation into cocaine trafficking in the Chicago area.
According to the indictment, Usmani and his brother allegedly conspired with Juan Bautista Dominguez, 41, of Chicago, and several others to distribute at least 500 grams of cocaine in the Chicago area from the fall of 2017 to the spring of 2018.
Usmani, also known as "Ace," allegedly distributed cocaine to hundreds of customers in the Chicago area, with drivers dispatched to make door-to-door deliveries.
The investigation, dubbed "Operation Flawed Deal," was conducted under the umbrella of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), a partnership between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
Usmani is charged in the indictment with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and money laundering. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 to 40 years in federal prison if convicted.
Usmani’s brother, Nafees Usmani, is also charged in the indictment with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. He faces the same maximum penalty as his brother.
The indictment also seeks forfeiture from Usmani of the Mercedes SUV and $247,700 in cash.
The public is reminded that charges contain only accusations and are not evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial.
Usmani’s initial appearance in federal court is scheduled for [insert date].
A trial date has not been set.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rajnath Laud and Charles W. Mulaney.
Usmani’s defense attorney is not listed.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI, DEA, IRS, and local law enforcement agencies.
