Angel Aranda-Vazquez Sentenced for Illegal Reentry

Angel Aranda-Vazquez, a 37-year-old citizen of Mexico, was handed a 168-day federal prison sentence after being found in the United States following multiple illegal entries. Sentenced on September 22, 2025, Aranda-Vazquez pleaded guilty to illegal reentry on June 25, 2025, a result of his attempts to use fraudulent identification documents in Tama County, Iowa.

The Mexican national had previously been deported from the U.S. and was now facing new charges. United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams presided over the sentence in Cedar Rapids. Alongside the prison term, Aranda-Vazquez must serve a one-year supervised release after his release from custody.

There is no parole available within the federal system, leaving Aranda-Vazquez to serve his entire sentence before being turned over to immigration officials by the United States Marshal’s Service.

The case against Aranda-Vazquez was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nicole L. Nagin and investigated by Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It is a part of Operation Take Back America, a sweeping initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.

Aranda-Vazquez’s case file number is 25-CR-000111. More information can be found at Operation Take Back America.
