Angelica Escobedo Bernal, Methamphetamine Conspiracy, Tennessee 2024

A massive manhunt has finally come to an end for Angelica Escobedo Bernal, a 33-year-old fugitive from Tamaulipas, Mexico, who was indicted in the Western District of Tennessee on February 6, 2024 for her alleged role in a methamphetamine conspiracy.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Bernal was arrested in Mexico on December 11, 2024, after a long and intense investigation.

As authorities continue to work on extraditing Bernal back to the United States, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, D. Michael Dunavant, praised the efforts of the U.S. Marshals Service and all parties involved in the case.

‘We are committed to bringing those who seek to traffic narcotics into our community to justice,’ Dunavant said in a statement. ‘The arrest of Ms. Bernal is a testament to the tireless efforts of our law enforcement partners and a reminder that we will continue to pursue those who threaten the safety of our citizens.’

Bernal, who is charged with Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Aiding and Abetting the Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, faces significant prison time if convicted.

The case against Bernal is a stark reminder of the ongoing threat of methamphetamine trafficking in the region and the importance of continued collaboration between law enforcement agencies to combat this scourge.
