George Luton, Sexual Exploitation, Pennsylvania 2024

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Annapolis resident George Luton, 49, has been slapped with a nine-count indictment for sexually exploiting minors, announced United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan today.

The indictment alleges that on multiple occasions in March 2024, Luton attempted to and did use, persuade, induce, entice, and coerce a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct, and also attempted to do the same on another occasion.

The Indictment further charges that, on April 6, 2024, Luton traveled in interstate commerce with a motivating purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with another person.

Luton is facing a whopping 30 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both. Under the federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

This case marks another blow to the vicious cycle of child exploitation, which has plagued the nation. As part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, authorities are cracking down on individuals who sexually exploit children and rescuing victims.

Luton is currently being detained pending trial. Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kiskiminetas Township Police Department, and Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children and to identify and rescue victims.
