Statesville Man Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison for Armed Robbery
A 23-year-old man from Statesville, North Carolina has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for robbing two convenience stores at gunpoint on the same day.
Anthony Dwayne Turner Jr. was sentenced to 135 months in prison and three years of supervised release for his role in the robberies, which occurred on October 9, 2020. Turner’s co-defendant, Xavier Lamar Poteat, 21, was sentenced to three years in prison and two years of supervised release for his role in the crime.
According to court documents, Turner and Poteat robbed a BP convenience store and a Circle K convenience store in Iredell County. During the robberies, Turner pointed a firearm at the store clerks and demanded money. The two men fled the scene after each robbery, but were arrested shortly thereafter. Law enforcement found two firearms inside the vehicle used by Turner and Poteat during the arrest.
