Anthony Johnson Charged with Robbery and Firearms Offenses

HARRISBURG – A federal grand jury in the Middle District of Pennsylvania indicted Anthony Johnson, age 49, a resident of York, Pennsylvania, on robbery and federal firearms charges. The indictment was unsealed on April 19, 2017.

According to U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler, Johnson and his co-conspirator robbed and shot a victim on Girard Avenue, York, on January 9, 2016. During the investigation, the U.S. Marshals Task Force and York City officers recovered a stolen Smith and Wesson 9mm caliber semiautomatic pistol and three Luger cartridges from Johnson’s co-conspirator during her arrest.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the York City Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Meredith A. Taylor is prosecuting the case.

This case was brought as part of the Violent Crime Reduction Partnership (“VCRP”), a district-wide initiative to combat the spread of violent crime in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Led by the United States Attorney’s Office, the VCRP consists of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies whose mission is to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who commit violent crimes with firearms.

Anthony Johnson, 49, of York, Pennsylvania, has been charged with robbery and federal firearms offenses.

The maximum penalty under federal law is lifetime imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the Judge is also required to consider and weigh a number of factors, including the nature, circumstances, and seriousness of the offense; the history and characteristics of the defendant; and the need to punish the defendant, protect the public, and provide for the defendant’s educational, vocational, and medical needs.

Anthony Johnson is presumed innocent until found guilty in court.
