Omaha Man Sentenced for Fentanyl Conspiracy
Anthony Jose Franco, 21, of Omaha, Nebraska, is behind bars after a lengthy investigation into his role in distributing fentanyl in the city.
Franco was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment, with a five-year term of supervised release to follow. There is no parole in the federal system.
The case against Franco began in August 2022, when he became the subject of a DEA investigation into his fentanyl distribution activities.
On August 5, 2022, an undercover agent purchased 21.3 grams of fentanyl directly from Franco. Just over two weeks later, on August 24, 2022, the undercover agent made a second purchase, this time buying 29.3 grams of fentanyl from Franco.
The final straw came on September 9, 2022, when Franco was arrested while delivering 58.7 grams of fentanyl to the undercover agent. A search warrant was executed at the residence where Franco was staying, resulting in the seizure of over 326 fentanyl pills and a loaded AK-47 assault rifle.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, which praised the work of all parties involved in bringing Franco to justice.
Franco’s lengthy sentence serves as a stern warning to those involved in the illicit fentanyl trade, which has ravaged communities across the country.
