Anthony One Star, a/k/a Tony One Star, has been making headlines in South Dakota for all the wrong reasons. The 30-year-old man from Rosebud, South Dakota, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Failure to Appear and Escape from Custody.
According to the indictment, One Star failed to return to custody as ordered on March 23, 2018, after being released from custody to attend a treatment program. He further failed to appear for his scheduled sentencing hearing on April 2, 2018. The maximum penalty upon conviction for each count is up to 5 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
One Star was previously indicted for Assaulting, Resisting and Impeding a Federal Officer. On November 1, 2017, he pled guilty to that charge and was ordered detained in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending sentencing.
The investigation is being conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson is prosecuting the case.
One Star was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
