Springfield Man Charged with Receiving, Distributing Child Pornography

A registered sex offender in Springfield, Mo., has been indicted for receiving and distributing child pornography over the Internet.

Anthony Richard Salois, 47, was charged in a two-count indictment with receiving and distributing child pornography between Sept. 16 and 20, 2013. The indictment further alleges that Salois was in possession of child pornography on Oct. 10, 2013.

Due to Salois’ prior state conviction for sexual abuse involving a minor, the charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without parole for the first count and 10 years for the second count.

The federal indictment also contains a forfeiture allegation, which would require Salois to forfeit two desktop computers and 121 optical media to the government.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri is leading the prosecution, with assistance from the FBI and the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crime Task Force.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Abram McGull, II, is handling the case. The charges are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
