COVINGTON, Ky. – A Campbell County man, Antonio Fox, 37, has been locked up behind bars for 30 months after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to Fox’s plea agreement, on May 23, 2024, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on Fox’s vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement found a loaded gun with an extra, loaded magazine. Fox admitted that he possessed the firearm and he knew he was prohibited from possessing a firearm, because he had previously been convicted of a felony.
Fox, a Newport resident, was previously convicted of two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm or ammunition by a felon in 2019, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana in 2010.
Under federal law, Fox must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence, which translates to 25.35 months in prison.
After completing his prison sentence, Fox will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for three years.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Drew Spievack is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States. The investigation was conducted by the ATF and Covington Police Department.
The sentencing of Antonio Fox is a stark reminder that violating federal laws can have severe consequences. For those who have been convicted of felonies, it is crucial to understand the importance of adhering to federal regulations, especially when it comes to possessing firearms.
