⏱ 2 min read

Quenton Abell, a 22-year-old from Crescent Springs, Kentucky, was caught red-handed with two handguns and multiple magazines, including loaded extended magazines, during a search of his Kenton County residence on August 25, 2025. Abell, a convicted felon, was aware he was prohibited from possessing firearms due to his prior conviction for Second Degree Assault and First Degree Wanton Endangerment in 2023. The search was executed after surveillance officers observed Abell with the firearms outside his residence. Messages on his phone also indicated his involvement in buying and selling controlled substances while in possession of the firearms.

Abell’s actions led to a sentence of 60 months in prison, handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge David Bunning. Under federal law, Abell must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence. Upon his release, he will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for three years.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Tony Bracke prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States. The sentence was jointly announced by Jason Parman, First Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Olivia Olson, Special Agent in Charge, FBI, Louisville Field Office; and Scott Hardcorn, Director of the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force.

Abell’s case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat illegal firearm possession and drug activity in Kentucky. The sentence serves as a reminder of the severe consequences for those who choose to disregard the law and put their communities at risk.
