Antonio Mora, Drug Trafficking, New York 2022

GRAVE CRIME ROCKS THE BRONX: A brazen daytime shooting on a busy residential street left one man for dead in front of his young daughter, all at the hands of Antonio Mora, a 28-year-old Bronx man who has pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and firearms offenses.

According to court documents, Mora participated in two separate conspiracies to distribute crack cocaine and heroin in the Bronx and elsewhere between December 2015 and November 2018. He also participated in multiple shootings, including two in the second half of 2018, which left two rival drug dealers severely injured.

On September 6, 2018, Mora and a co-conspirator pursued a rival drug dealer in broad daylight and shot him in the abdomen. Just 11 days later, on September 17, 2018, Mora and others chased down a rival drug dealer while he was walking on the street with his daughter in the Bronx, pulled the rival dealer’s daughter from his hands, and shot him twice in the leg.

Mora, who has pleaded guilty to three counts, including conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams and more of crack cocaine and 1 kilogram and more of heroin, is facing a mandatory minimum prison term of 10 years and a maximum prison term of life.

The case is being handled by the Office’s Violent and Organized Crime Unit, with Assistant United States Attorneys Mathew Andrews, Courtney Heavey, Danielle Sassoon, and paralegal specialist Christopher Sykes leading the prosecution. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams praised the outstanding investigative work of the New York City Police Department.

Mora’s sentencing is scheduled for February 3, 2022, before U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken. As he awaits his fate, Mora’s crimes will serve as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of drug trafficking and violence on our communities.

As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: those who engage in this type of heinous behavior will be held accountable for their actions. The people of New York demand justice, and we will do everything in our power to deliver it.
