A 28-year-old man from Munhall, Pennsylvania, has been indicted for his alleged involvement in heroin trafficking and firearm possession.
According to the indictment, Antonuan Smith, 28, possessed over 100 grams of heroin on December 23, 2014. Additionally, he was found to be in possession of three firearms, including a loaded Taurus .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, a loaded Smith and Wesson .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol, and a loaded .22 caliber assault rifle.
The indictment also alleges that Smith used these firearms in furtherance of his heroin trafficking activities. Furthermore, it is a federal crime for a convicted felon to possess firearms or ammunition, and Smith has previously been convicted of felony offenses.
Smith was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on February 24. The possible sentence for these crimes ranges from 10 years to life in prison, with a fine of up to $5,000,000.
The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Munhall Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
An indictment is an accusation, and Smith is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Assistant United States Attorney Eric S. Rosen is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
