Megan Shellenberger, a 30-year-old resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has been charged with providing contraband to an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution, Allenwood.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Shellenberger is accused of providing cell phones to the inmate in December 2013 while she was employed at the prison.
Shellenberger has since resigned from the Bureau of Prisons.
The government has filed a plea agreement in the case, which is subject to the approval of the court.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Prisons, Office of Inspector General, and Bureau of Prisons Special Investigation Service.
Assistant United States Attorney Wayne P. Samuelson is assigned to prosecute the case.
Shellenberger has been charged with one count of providing contraband to an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution, Allenwood.
The maximum penalty under the federal statute is one year imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
Shellenberger is currently a resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and has resigned from the Bureau of Prisons.
The case is ongoing, and no sentencing date has been set.
