Bowling Green Man Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy Charges

A Bowling Green man, Antwain Santez Sweatt, has pleaded guilty to several charges related to conspiracy and possession of firearms. The 35-year-old, who has a history of violent crime, admitted to renting a residence for the purpose of distributing controlled substances.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Sweatt conspired with others to possess with intent to distribute and distribute marijuana, cocaine, and cocaine base between June and July 2014 in Warren County, Kentucky. He also admitted to possessing a 9mm pistol and ammunition after being convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for more than one year.

Sweatt’s guilty plea comes after a seven-count superseding indictment was filed in December 2014. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 14, 2015, in U.S. District Court before Judge Greg N. Stivers.

The charges against Sweatt include conspiracy to possess and distribute marijuana, cocaine, and cocaine base, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and maintaining a residence for the purpose of distributing controlled substances.

Sweatt faces a combined minimum term of 15 years in prison, a combined maximum term of life imprisonment, a combined maximum fine of $3,750,000, and supervised release of at least three years and up to any number of years, including life.

Investigating agencies involved in the case include the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Bowling Green Police Department, and the Bowling Green/Warren County Drug Task Force.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jo E. Lawless.
