A Hopkinsville man was slapped with a 5-year prison sentence this week for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
Stephen Antwain Taylor, 31, of Hopkinsville, KY, was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, for one count of possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.
The case was the result of a joint investigation by the United States Army’s Central Investigations Division at Fort Campbell and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the DEA Paducah Post of Duty.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Leigh Ann Dycus, of the U.S. Attorney’s Paducah Branch Office, handled the prosecution of the case.
“This sentence sends a clear message that methamphetamine trafficking will not be tolerated in our community,” said U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett of the Western District of Kentucky.
Special Agent in Charge Ronald Yeatts of the United States Army’s Central Investigations Division at Fort Campbell and Christian County Sheriff Tyler DeArmond also commended the efforts of the investigators involved in the case.
In the federal system, there is no parole, meaning Taylor will serve his full 5-year sentence.
The investigation and prosecution of Taylor was a collaborative effort between multiple law enforcement agencies, demonstrating the commitment to keeping our communities safe from the scourge of methamphetamine trafficking.
The public can remain vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity to the authorities, and we will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice.
