Meth Kingpin Snares 96 Months for Trafficking

A notorious meth kingpin is headed to the slammer for 96 months after being convicted of trafficking the deadly substance.

SCRANTON – In a major blow to the region’s methamphetamine trade, Allateef Alkamil Ali-White, a 43-year-old Pottsville man, was sentenced to 96 months’ imprisonment, followed by a 3-year period of supervised release, for his role in the illicit trade.

According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Ali-White conspired to distribute over five pounds (2,336 grams) of a substance containing methamphetamine, which he was to receive through the United States mail from a supply source in California.

The package containing the narcotics was intercepted by law enforcement prior to its final delivery to a location in Pottsville near Ali-White’s residence.

This matter was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). Assistant United States Attorney Jeffery St John prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

As part of this effort, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on the following core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.
