PHOENIX, Ariz. – Anxhela Spahi, a 43-year-old citizen of Albania, is facing federal charges for willfully refusing to depart the United States within 90 days of when her order of removal became final.

According to the indictment, Spahi failed to comply with the law and remain outside the country, despite being given ample opportunity to do so. Her actions are a clear example of the ongoing issue of illegal immigration that plagues our communities.

The indictment alleges that Spahi willfully refused to depart the United States within 90 days of when her order of removal became final. If convicted, she faces a maximum penalty of $250,000 fine, up to four years in prison, and up to one year of supervised release.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the federal government to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations, conducted the investigation in this case. The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, Phoenix, is handling the prosecution.
