Arkansas Man Indicted for Failing to Pay $29,682 in Child Support
A federal grand jury in South Dakota has indicted Jacob H. Lehnherr, a 38-year-old man from Hot Springs, Arkansas, for failing to pay over $29,682 in past due child support.
According to the indictment, Lehnherr has neglected to pay the substantial amount of child support owed to the mother of his child, leaving her to bear the financial burden alone.
The maximum penalty upon conviction is two years imprisonment; a $250,000.00 fine; one year supervised release; one additional year upon revocation; a $100.00 assessment fee; and child support restitution amount owing at the time of sentencing.
Lehnherr appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge John E. Simko on March 1, 2013, and pled not guilty to the indictment.
The investigation is being conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas J. Wright is prosecuting the case.
Lehnherr was released on bond pending trial, with a trial date set for May 7, 2013.
