Two Honduran Men Plead Guilty to Illegal Re-entry in New York
BUFFALO, N.Y. – In a shocking turn of events, two Honduran men, Arlen Saul Castillo and Jonathan Esteban Osario Lopez, pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry in a Buffalo court.
According to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo, Arlen Saul Castillo, 29, and Jonathan Esteban Osario Lopez, 32, both natives and citizens of Honduras, were charged with re-entering the United States without proper documentation. The men were encountered by Border Patrol on October 8, 2025, in Erie County, NY.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Maeve E. Huggins stated that Arlen Saul Castillo and Jonathan Esteban Osario Lopez are citizens and nationals of Honduras without any legal status in the United States. Castillo was physically removed from the United States in December 2018, while Lopez was removed in August 2013 and December 2013.
The investigation into the men’s re-entry was led by Customs and Border Protection U.S. Border Patrol, under the direction of Acting Chief Patrol Agent James D’Amato and Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan.
As part of the nationwide initiative, Operation Take Back America, the men’s pleas and sentencings are a significant step in repelling the invasion of illegal immigration and protecting our communities from perpetrators of violent crime. Castillo and Lopez were sentenced to time served and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of re-entering the United States without proper documentation. It is a clear message that those who attempt to bypass our borders will be held accountable for their actions.
The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
