Armed Robbery at 7-Eleven Lands 2 in Federal Crosshairs
St. Louis, MO – Monte Kent, 32, and Harvey Cameron, 29, both of St. Louis, are facing federal charges in connection with the armed robbery of a 7-Eleven convenience store on June 21, 2020.
According to a joint investigation by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kent and Cameron robbed the 7-Eleven at 5350 Chippewa Street, St. Louis, Missouri, while brandishing a firearm.
The suspects allegedly drove a black Cadillac sedan to the front of the store, with Cameron exiting the vehicle and pointing an AK-style pistol at a 7-Eleven employee. Kent remained in the driver’s seat as Cameron demanded the entire cash register drawer, which was placed in a trash bag.
Following the robbery, Kent and Cameron sped away in their vehicle, leading police on a high-speed chase through the City of St. Louis. The suspects eventually abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot, but were apprehended by authorities.
A search of the black Cadillac sedan revealed a black trash bag containing over $90, the 7-Eleven cash register drawer, and the AK-style pistol.
If convicted, Kent and Cameron face significant prison time and fines. The charge of robbery carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, while brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence carries a minimum sentence of seven years. The charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Charges are merely accusations and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.
