Armed Robbery Ring Sentenced to 32 Years
Baltimore, Maryland – Erick Wilson, 28, of Columbia, and David Marquise Howard, 29, of Baltimore, were sentenced to 32 years and a day in prison for their roles in a scheme to rob armored car employees.
The scheme involved six armed robberies of Dunbar Armored Vehicles, resulting in the theft of $765,000 and six employee handguns. The first robbery occurred in Washington, D.C. on May 22, 2008, and the last on April 4, 2011, in Silver Spring, Maryland.
According to their guilty pleas, Howard and Wilson wore disguises and purchased ‘throw-away’ cars to commit the robberies. They used disposable cell phones to communicate during the robberies and arranged for vehicles and drivers to be near the robberies to quickly flee and help transport the stolen guns and money.
Regina McCullom, Wilson’s mother, and Gloria Martino, Howard’s girlfriend, have also been charged in the case and are scheduled to be sentenced on January 25 and 30, 2013, respectively.
Prosecutors praised the FBI, Montgomery County Police, Howard County Police, and the State’s Attorneys’ Offices for their work in the investigation and prosecution of the case.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked Assistant United States Attorneys Mark Crooks and Paul Budlow for their efforts in bringing the case to a close.
