Ahli Fields, a 34-year-old from Jacksonville, has pleaded guilty to his role in a brazen armed robbery at an Ormond Beach grocery store on June 9, 2020. Fields and a co-conspirator hatched a plan to rob the store, with Fields providing a revolver and waiting nearby as his accomplice carried out the heist. The co-conspirator brandished the firearm at two employees, demanding cash from a safe before making off with several thousand dollars. Fields received a cut of the proceeds for his involvement.
Fields’ guilty plea came after a thorough investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and several local law enforcement agencies. Cellphone records and location data placed Fields and his co-conspirator in the area at the time of the robbery, and showed they were in communication during the heist.
Fields faces a minimum of seven years in federal prison, with a maximum sentence of life behind bars. His co-defendant, Nathaniel Cox, is still awaiting trial for his alleged role in the robbery, as well as several other armed robberies and attempted robberies throughout the Middle District of Florida.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Chang, and is a testament to the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in bringing violent criminals to justice.
