Christopher Adams Jr, a 34-year-old serial felon from Tallahassee, Florida, has pleaded guilty to federal gun and drug charges. The defendant, who has a history of multiple prior felony convictions, was caught with synthetic cathinone, also known as ‘molly’, and a firearm during a traffic stop. The Tallahassee Police Department encountered Adams as the driver of a vehicle with a stolen tag and illegal window tint, which led to a search of the vehicle and the discovery of the drugs and firearm.
The search of the vehicle revealed a pistol in the driver’s side door pocket, along with a zippered pouch containing approximately an ounce and a half of synthetic cathinone, split up into smaller baggies. Adams acknowledged ownership of the ‘molly’ and knew the firearm was present. As a convicted felon, Adams was prohibited from possessing firearms due to his prior convictions for armed burglary, drug trafficking, and firearm offenses.
Adams has been to prison on four separate occasions, with his longest prior sentence being 5 years. He now faces a maximum potential sentence of life imprisonment. The case was investigated by the Tallahassee Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and is part of the Department of Justice’s Operation Take Back America initiative.
The successful prosecution of Adams is a win for the Northern District of Florida under Operation Take Back America, which aims to eradicate drug traffickers and perpetrators of violent crime from communities. The initiative deploys the full might of the Department of Justice to deliver safe, drug-free streets to citizens.
