A 35-year-old Marianna, Florida man is headed back to prison after a brazen escape from his halfway house in Tallahassee. Trashad Laron Roberts was found hiding in a residence just four hours after fleeing the reentry center on September 2, 2025.
The escape wasn’t Roberts’ first run-in with the law. He was originally convicted of possession and distribution of methamphetamine in the Northern District of Florida in September 2020, earning him a four-year prison sentence with supervised release.
But Roberts didn’t see the rules as binding. He left the halfway house without permission, prompting a swift response from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Tallahassee Police Department.
”As soon as the U.S. Marshals Service learned that Trashad Roberts was on the run, we sent our fugitive task force to work,” said Acting U.S. Marshal Greg Leljedal. “Through swift, decisive action with our partners at the Tallahassee Police Department, we were able to quickly locate Roberts and had him back in prison before bed.”
Now Roberts will serve the remainder of his original sentence consecutive to the 27 months he’ll spend behind bars for escape.
