TEXARKANA – A monstrous predator from Ashdown, Arkansas, has been handed a 30-year sentence for producing child pornography. Aaron Lloyd Mitchell, 25, was sentenced today to 360 months in federal prison without parole, followed by a harsh 20 years of supervised release.
The Honorable Chief Judge Susan O. Hickey oversaw the sentencing hearing in the U.S. District Court in Texarkana.
According to court documents, it all started when the FBI in Texarkana, Arkansas, was notified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a chilling case of child sexual abuse. Mitchell had uploaded disturbing images depicting the assault of a five-year-old girl online. The investigation led to the defendant’s doorstep on November 21, 2018, where he confessed to producing and distributing these sinister images.
Mitchell was indicted on December 13, 2018, facing multiple charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. He pleaded guilty to production of child pornography on June 20, 2019. The U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes of the Western District of Arkansas announced the sentence.
The FBI was instrumental in the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Dustin Roberts prosecuted the case with unwavering dedication.
This sentencing is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort launched by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative has been at the forefront since May 2006, using federal, state, and local resources to apprehend and prosecute predators who exploit children via the Internet.
